Free-cutting steel
Free-cutting steels are intended for high-speed machining operations requiring efficient chip formation and consistent machining performance.
Their chemical composition, typically based on controlled sulfur additions and modified inclusion morphology, improves machinability, reduces tool wear, and supports stable machining conditions during turning, drilling, milling, and threading operations.
Depending on the grade and delivery condition, the steels can also provide defined mechanical properties and suitability for subsequent forming or heat treatment processes.
Typical applications include shafts, bushings, fittings, fasteners, hydraulic components, and high-volume precision machined parts.
