Cold work tool steel
Cold work tool steels are intended for tooling components exposed to high mechanical loads, abrasive wear, and compressive stresses at lower operating temperatures.
Their chemical composition and heat treatment response provide a controlled combination of hardness, wear resistance, toughness, dimensional stability, and edge retention.
Depending on the alloying concept, the steels can be optimized for machining, blanking, cutting, forming, and precision tooling applications.
Typical applications include punches, dies, shear blades, cutting tools, forming tools, gauges, and other wear-loaded tooling components.
