Secondary Metallurgy Centre (SMC) Operator | Steel Plant
Responsibilities
- Operating and monitoring the ladle furnace, vacuum treatment unit and associated equipment
- Ensuring adequate stocks of wires, ferroalloys, measuring probes and other materials required for ladle furnace and vacuum treatment operations
- Following all technological procedures and safety instructions for work and equipment in the steel plant
- Coordinating and scheduling activities in line with other steelmaking and casting processes
Qualifications and expectations
- Level V or VI technical education and 24 months of work experience in an operator position
- Technical background in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics or Electrical Engineering, e.g. Mechanical Engineer, Mechatronics Engineer, Mechanical Engineering Technician, Mechatronics Technician or Electrical Engineering Technician
- Completed formal education is preferred but not a mandatory requirement
- Ability to work as part of a team, initiative and attention to detail
- Willingness to work shifts and undertake further training
